ConvertKit is an amazing email marketing platform that offers users a wide variety of tools to help increase their email marketing efforts. One of these is ConvertKit Automations. The Automations tool makes it easy to segment and tag subscribers, add subscribers to email sequences, remove subscribers from email sequences and more!
Today, I’ll be walking you through how to use ConvertKit Automations and some of my favorite Automation features.
To start, login to your ConvertKit account and click on the Automations tab in the top menu.
The first screen you’ll see is the Automation Rules tab. Here, you can create specific rules for forms on your site. Click the blue “Add Rule” button to begin!
Next, you’ll see a screen that will allow you to select a Trigger and corresponding Action. Triggers are the action a subscriber completes. This could be subscribing to a form, completing an email sequence, clicking on a link within an email or opting in to a new email sequence. Actions are how you’d like ConvertKit to record whatever trigger the subscriber just completed.
For example, if I’d like a subscriber to be added to a particular email sequence after they subscribe to a form, I would select the Trigger “Subscribes to a form”.
From here, I have the option to select which form on my website will trigger this action. In this instance, I’ll select the form I’ve titled [CONTENT UPGRADE] Makeover Your Blog. So this action will be applied to anyone who subscribes to that particular form on my website.
Next, I’ll select the Action I’d like to take place when someone subscribes to the [CONTENT UPGRADE] Makeover Your Blog form. In this case, I’d like them to be automatically added to the email sequence I’ve built for that particular opt-in.
After clicking on the Action “Subscribe to a sequence”, I’ll select the appropriate email sequence from the drop down menu. In this case, I’d like users to be subscribed to the sequence Makeover Your Blog. Finish your rule by hitting the blue “Save Rule” button.
You’ll see your new Rule at the bottom of your Automation Rules list.
You can add multiple Actions to one Trigger if there are multiples things you’d like that particular Trigger to do (such as tag a subscriber or add them to a segment). ConvertKit also allows for an unlimited number of Automation Rules for your list.
ConvertKit Automations are an amazing way to add subscribers to your sequences, tag subscribers by interest and keep track of how a subscriber got on your list. I would highly encourage you to take advantage of ConvertKit’s amazing Automation tool!
